Terms of Service
Effective Date: September 2, 2026 ยท Governing Law: Ontario, Canada & Federal Laws of Canada
01. Acceptance of Agreement & Terms
Welcome to RangeAndFuel.ca ("the Platform," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing, browsing, scraping, linking to, or otherwise utilizing any feature, calculation engine, database query, or informational resource hosted on RangeAndFuel.ca, you ("the User," "Visitor," or "Licensee") explicitly acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be legally bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") in conjunction with our Privacy Policy and Data Methodology Disclaimer.
If you do not agree unconditionally with every term, covenant, and condition outlined within this agreement, you must immediately cease all access and use of RangeAndFuel.ca. We reserve the absolute right to update, modify, amend, or replace any portion of these Terms at our sole discretion. Any changes will become effective immediately upon posting to this page with an updated "Effective Date." Your continued use of the platform following the posting of modifications constitutes legal acceptance of those revisions.
02. Scope of Services & Informational Nature
RangeAndFuel.ca is an independent Canadian digital publication and automotive data analytics engine. Our primary service consists of compiling, computing, modeling, and presenting automotive fuel consumption statistics (Litres per 100 Kilometres, or L/100km), electric vehicle power consumption figures (kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometres, or kWh/100km), estimated provincial operating expenditures in Canadian Dollars (CAD $), sub-zero cold-weather winter range degradation projections (-15ยฐC baseline), and Transport Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls (MVSR) bulletins.
All information, computational algorithms, and data published across our website are offered solely for general informational, educational, and consumer comparison purposes. Nothing published on this website constitutes professional financial advice, certified automotive mechanical engineering counsel, vehicle warranty representation, or legally binding retail vehicle pricing from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
03. Calculation Engines & No Warranty on Real-World Results
The automotive calculations displayed across our platform (including annual fuel cost projections, monthly fuel budgets, 5-year total expenditure modeling, winter battery loss estimates, and vehicle-to-vehicle head-to-head comparisons) are mathematical simulations based on official Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) EnerGuide laboratory baseline ratings, Statistics Canada regional petroleum surveys, and provincial public utility hydro tariffs.
You acknowledge that real-world automotive efficiency is inherently variable and subject to factors beyond our computational modeling, including:
- Driver Aggression & Speed Profiles: Rapid acceleration, driving in excess of posted highway speed limits (e.g., 120 km/h vs. 100 km/h), and frequent harsh braking significantly elevate fuel and electricity consumption.
- Severe Climate Conditions: Ambient temperatures below 0ยฐC, cabin climate control usage, aerodynamic resistance from blizzard snow, and rolling resistance from heavy slush increase energy consumption beyond laboratory figures.
- Vehicle Payload & Aerodynamics: Carrying roof cargo boxes, bicycle racks, heavy cargo, or towing recreational trailers drastically degrades cruising range.
- Mechanical Maintenance: Improper tire inflation pressure, non-winter compound tires, neglected engine oil change intervals, and unaligned suspensions will degrade fuel economy.
Accordingly, RangeAndFuel.ca provides no warranty, express or implied, that your personal vehicle operating expenses or battery cruising range will match the mathematical calculations generated by our interactive widgets.
04. Intellectual Property & Proprietary Rights
All content published on RangeAndFuel.caโincluding but not limited to proprietary mathematical formulas, computational calculators, user interface designs, custom CSS styling, typography, software source code, graphics, interactive widgets, editorial reviews, buyer guides, and structured JSON-LD schemasโis the intellectual property of RangeAndFuel.ca and is protected under Canadian and international copyright, trademark, and database protection legislation.
Automotive brand names, model trademarks, logos, vehicle badge insignias, and recall notices (such as Toyota, Ford, Honda, Tesla, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Transport Canada, NRCan) referenced throughout this website are the registered trademarks of their respective corporate entities or government bodies. Their mention on this platform is strictly for accurate nominative fair-use identification and comparative editorial reporting under Canadian law.
05. Prohibited Uses & Platform Integrity
You agree to use RangeAndFuel.ca solely for lawful personal, consumer research, or non-commercial editorial purposes. When utilizing the platform, you agree that you shall NOT:
- Engage in unauthorized automated data extraction, high-frequency web scraping, screen scraping, or database harvesting of our vehicle specifications without prior written authorization.
- Deploy automated bots, spiders, crawlers, or scripts designed to impair, overload, flood, or disrupt server infrastructure or Core Web Vitals performance.
- Circumvent, disable, or tamper with security protocols, rate-limiting tokens, or firewall protections.
- Frame, mirror, or embed our interactive calculators or comparison tools on third-party commercial platforms without express written licensing agreements.
- Use the platform to transmit malware, phishing links, intrusive scripts, or unauthorized commercial solicitations.
06. Advertising, Affiliate Links & Commercial Disclosures
To maintain RangeAndFuel.ca as a free public automotive intelligence resource for all Canadian motorists, our platform displays third-party advertising networks (including Google AdSense) and includes commercial affiliate referral partnerships (e.g., auto insurance comparison services, vehicle trade-in valuation partners, and Level 2 residential EV charging hardware suppliers).
When you interact with third-party advertisements or click sponsored affiliate links, you may be redirected to independent commercial platforms governed by their own distinct terms of service and privacy practices. RangeAndFuel.ca does not underwrite, warrant, guarantee, or assume legal liability for any third-party products, services, quotations, financing agreements, or insurance policies purchased through external vendor referrals.
07. Transport Canada Safety Recalls Disclaimer
While RangeAndFuel.ca actively compiles and categorizes public safety recall bulletins issued by Transport Canada under the Motor Vehicle Safety Act (MVSA), our recall database is provided as a secondary informational reference. Recall remedies, affected production build dates, and open recall status are tied directly to an individual vehicle's unique 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
RangeAndFuel.ca does NOT maintain a real-time connection to individual manufacturer warranty databases. Vehicle owners must verify their individual VIN directly with an authorized Canadian franchise dealership or through the official Transport Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls portal at tc.canada.ca before making safety decisions.
